Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding is a restoration process in which a tooth-colored composite is bonded to a tooth and cured with special curing light. Bonding is usually both faster and cheaper than either veneers or crowns. Bonding is a good option if you need small cosmetic improvements to your teeth. Compared to veneers and crowns, this procedure's enamel removal process is minimal. However, bonding does not last as long as other forms of restoration; talking with your dentist will help you consider this fact before you make a decision.
We can use cosmetic bonding to fix dental issues like:
- Repairing decayed teeth
- Repairing chipped or cracked teeth
- Improving the appearance of discolored teeth
- Closing spaces between teeth
- Lengthening teeth
- Changing the shape of teeth
- Protecting a portion of the tooth’s root when the gums have receded
What can I expect during my appointment?
We can complete a cosmetic bonding procedure in a single appointment. First, Dr. Sackheim determines what shade your teeth are to select a composite that will blend in naturally. Next, we will prepare the tooth for the bonding process. This will involve roughening the surface of the tooth and applying a small amount of conditioner to ensure that the bonding will take place. Finally, Doctor Sackheim will apply the composite to the tooth, cure it, then shape it to a natural state. Our team will ensure that you leave the office with a beautiful smile you will love.
Composite (Tooth Colored) Fillings
There are many reasons why someone would need a composite, or tooth-colored filling. We can utilize composite fillings for chipped, cracked, broken, decayed, or worn teeth. These fillings can also be used to close the gap between two teeth. Both composite fillings and silver amalgam fillings are the most widely preferred; however, composite fillings can be closely matched to the color of your existing teeth, and are thus a sensible and beautiful option for your smile.
What can I expect during my appointment?
Composite fillings can be placed in a single appointment. While the tooth is numb, Dr. Sackheim will prepare the tooth for your new composite filling. He will then place, shape, and polish your new filling, restoring your tooth to its original shape. We would gently remove the affected portion of the tooth and then fill it with a composite filling that best matches your tooth color.
After your appointment, you will be given care instructions for your new filling. You may experience sensitivity to both hot and cold temperatures; this is normal and will subside after your tooth acclimates to your new filling. However, pain while chewing is not normal, and you should return to have the filling evaluated.
Although composite fillings are quite durable, they may need to be replaced someday. Dr. Sackheim will discuss with you the best options for restoring your teeth and ensure that you are given a long lasting, beautiful smile.
Porcelain Crowns (Same Day)
Porcelain crowns or caps cover the entire tooth surface and restore it to its original shape and size. A crown both protects and strengthens a tooth’s structure that could not be restored through restorative fillings. There are several types of crowns available, but porcelain is by far the most popular choice for patients. Crowns are commonly used to fix broken or fractured teeth, extensive tooth decay, defective fillings, or for cosmetic enhancement. Although they may need to be eventually replaced, porcelain crowns are very durable and can last a very long time. Porcelain crowns are made to match your smile and will give you a natural, long-lasting smile.
What can I expect during my appointment?
Dr. Sackheim will prepare your tooth by removing decay from the tooth’s surface. This will allow for adequate space for your new crown to fit over the tooth. We will then take a digital scan of your mouth. This digital model will be used to design your new porcelain crown. After we verify that the crown fits comfortably, we will bond it to your tooth. Thanks to technology, we can complete all of this in a single visit.
You will be given some take-home instructions after your appointment. Good oral hygiene, mindful eating habits, and coming in to see us on a regular basis will help to prolong the life of your new crown.
How we make your Crowns
At Sackheim Dental we're excited to use the latest technology to fabricate, in our office, your new porcelain crown in just one visit. After a brief scan, our software digitally creates an exact replica of your mouth. Our milling machine conveniently produces a precisely milled porcelain crown while you wait. The result is a flawless fit that looks great, at no additional cost. As a family business we know all too well that you're busy so we'll do our best to have you out the door in just a couple of hours with your new porcelain crown same day.
Our Sirona Cerec Omnicam and MCXL Milling Unit allow us to complete a process right away that used to take weeks. Multiple visits with molds, temporary restorations, lab work, and refitting’s have been replaced with a single appointment. At Sackheim Dental we take a digital scan and our machine immediately builds a 3D model of your mouth. We then design a virtual restoration of your custom crown in our Cerec Omnicam computer using your digital model and mill it out of a porcelain block that will blend in with the rest of your teeth. Your new crown then gets glazed, stained, and baked in the oven while you wait. If for any reason it's not perfect we will make a quick adjustment and put it right back in the oven until it is perfect. Most dentists can't make any changes once a crown comes back from a lab. That's why we're very proud to have these capabilities right here in our office. Once your new crown is just right we fit it and bond it into place. Your smile is restored and your bite is back to normal in a couple of hours and you're on your way.
Porcelain Veneers (Same Day)
Veneers are thin pieces of durable porcelain that are custom-made by Dr. Sackheim for your teeth. They are then bonded to the front of your teeth to create a uniform and beautiful smile. You might consider veneers if you have:
- Crooked teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Severely discolored teeth
- Teeth that are too small/large
- Unwanted space between teeth
- Worn or chipped teeth
Although veneers are quite durable, they may need to be replaced someday. Dr. Sackheim will discuss with you the best options for restoring your teeth and ensure that you are given a long lasting, beautiful smile.
What can I expect during my appointment?
Once the teeth are numbed, they will be prepared by delicately buffing the surface to make room for your new veneer. Then, Dr. Sackheim will take a digital scan of your mouth. We will use this digital model to create your new veneers. After we verify that the veneers fit comfortably, we will bond it to your teeth. Thanks to technology, we can complete all of this in a single visit.
You will be given some take-home instructions after your appointment. Good oral hygiene, mindful eating habits, and coming in to see us on a regular basis will help to lengthen the life of your new veneers.

Porcelain Bridges
A bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance and is an excellent way to replace missing teeth without requiring surgery. The bridge will be custom made and will be permanently cemented to your teeth just like a crown (cap).
There are several types of bridges. Dr. Sackheim will discuss with you the best options for your particular case. A typical bridge consists of two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth. They are then attached to artificial teeth, filling the gap created by one or more missing teeth. People normally get fixed bridges if they need to:
- Replace missing teeth
- Prevent teeth from moving
- Restore chewing and speaking ability
- Restore your smile
Bridges are highly durable and typically last many years. However, they may need replacement or need to be re-cemented due to normal wear.
What can I expect during my appointment?
After your teeth have been numbed, two anchoring teeth are prepared by removing a portion of the tooth to allow space for the bridge. Then, Dr. Sackheim will take a digital scan of your mouth; we will use this digital model to create your new bridge. After we verify that the bridge fits comfortably, we will bond it permanently to your teeth.
You will be given some take-home instructions after your appointment. Good oral hygiene, mindful eating habits, and coming in to see us on a regular basis will help to lengthen the life of your new bridge.
Dentures and Partial Dentures
Dentures are removable synthetic teeth that are used to enhance your smile if you are missing teeth or surrounding dental tissue. There are two types of dentures that a patient can receive: complete and partial. Complete dentures are used when all of your teeth are missing. On the other hand, partial dentures can be utilized if you are only missing a few of your teeth; they can even help the remaining teeth from shifting. Dentures are made to look as natural as possible and can be a convenient option depending on your circumstances. You might consider dentures if:
- You are missing all of your teeth
- You are missing some of your teeth
- You need your smile and facial tissue enhanced
If you are in need of a complete denture, we need first to determine if you need immediate dentures or conventional dentures.
Immediate Dentures
Immediate dentures are made in advance and are placed directly after your teeth are removed. This means that you will not have to go without teeth while your gums heal. Once your gums heal, we can make adjustments if needed.
Conventional Dentures
Conventional dentures are made after your gums have healed completely after tooth removal. You will need to go about 4 to 6 weeks without teeth.
What can I expect during my appointment?
Unlike some of our other procedures, getting your dentures will require multiple appointments over several weeks. We will take a mold of your mouth and use it to create your personal dentures. There will be several try-on appointments to ensure that the dentures fit properly and are a natural color. During your final appointment, Dr. Sackheim will adjust and place your denture, ensuring that you have a long lasting and beautiful smile. While dentures are very durable and will last many years, they may need to be remade, repaired, or adjusted due to normal wear.
You will also be given some take-home instructions after your final appointment. Good oral hygiene, mindful eating habits, and coming in to see us on a regular basis will help to lengthen the life of your new denture. It is normal to experience soreness, chewing difficulty and increased saliva flow after your new dentures are placed. We need to allow time for your mouth to adapt to your new dentures.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are synthetic teeth that are placed into the upper or lower jawbone. The teeth implants are natural looking and will give you back your beautiful smile. Dental implants can assist in replacing missing teeth and are a great alternative to having removable dentures; Additionally, implants can provide support for dentures if needed.
There are a few reasons why you might need dental implants including:
- Replacing one or more missing teeth
- Restoring ability to chew, speak, and digest food
- Restore chewing, speech, and digestion.
- Restoring or enhancing facial tissues
- Supporting a bridge or denture (restoring stability and comfort)
What can I expect during my appointment?
Unlike other procedures, this process can take several appointments over the course of a few months. We will take a digital scan of your mouth and will use this digital model to create your new implants. Once the implants are prepared, we will numb your jaw and insert it directly into the jaw. We will need to allow up to six months for your jaw to heal and get used to the implant. After your jaw has healed, we will create a custom crown to be placed on top of the implant.
You will be given some take-home instructions after your appointment. Good oral hygiene, mindful eating habits, and coming in to see us on a regular basis will help to lengthen the life of your new dental implants.
Opalescence Whitening
Opalescence whitening gels will rejuvenate your brilliant, white smile. Coffee, tobacco, some medications, and your favorite foods can dull and darken tooth enamel over time. If something stains your shirt, it will eventually stain your teeth. Extrinsic stains appear on the outside of your teeth and sometimes can be removed with whitening toothpaste or mouthwash. Intrinsic stains that cause complex discoloration from inside your tooth can only be eliminated with whitening agents like Opalescence.
Three different approaches complement your lifestyle and address those dark, unsightly, intrinsic stains that rob your teeth of their natural white appearance. Select from:
- Take-Home custom-made trays
- Ready to Go prefabricated trays
- Higher concentration In-Office treatments
All of these approaches will restore your teeth to their best color. With these whitening products, you can take control of your whitening routine. You can either do it at home or let us handle the process for you. Either way, we will get you to the bright white smile you are looking for.
Opalescence Tooth Whitening Systems are stronger and more efficient than over-the-counter teeth whitening products. Another benefit of using Opalescence over other brands of whitening systems is that all Opalescence products help to reduce cavities and strengthen enamel while whitening your teeth in as little as 20 minutes a day. Besides, our office only uses the strongest whitening products that Opalescence has to offer. We want to get you to your best smile, fast.
